Composer John Cage visited in 1976. We performed his piece for 30+ pianos that lasts over half an hour. Each pianist has about 10 notes to play, at any time, during that half hour. I was one of the pianists, and an audience member next to me fell asleep and snored very, very loudly for about 20 minutes. At the reception afterwards, I apologized to Cage for the audience member’s snoring. Cage said that the person’s snoring was his “absolute favorite part” of the performance.
