It is remarkable how many pop-up faculty concerts from the Music School remain in my memories. Hearing Ravi Shankar and his group of notable Indian musicians play Ragas into the early morning… or the Indonesian Gamelan orchestra staging shadow plays with kretek clove cigarette smoke flavoring the air…or Juilliard Quintet musicians playing the Trout… and the early version of Judy Chicago Dinner Party, or Allan Kaprow Happenings… and the introduction to Contact Improvisation with Steve Paxton… and my solo Dance concert with Charlemagne Palestine! Aha! Those were some of the great memories.
